What exactly is La Cucina Italiana?
Surely it is the most instantly recognizable and arguably the most popular cuisine in the world? Beneath the surface of pizza, pasta and gelato you will find a bewildering variety of amazing dishes from all over Italy’s 20 regions and 103 provinces.
Despite such diversity it is possible to find the common themes that has made Italian cuisine so distinctive and well-loved, as an increasing number of British visitors to Italy will willingly attest.
Italy itself could claim to be the original Food Hero as it is the leading European country for organic or biological produce, with over 50,000 organic farms covering an area of nearly 2.5m acres.
However, this is just a part of a greater trend as Italians have always traditionally held a fierce appreciation of and devotion to their local produce. So much so that that many of its cheeses, salumi, and oils have transcended their humble origins to become worldwide culinary successes.
