Hello!
Welcome to this special organic September issue
of your ‘From My kitchen to yours’ newsletter.
Far from spending August on a sandy beach somewhere warm (that would have to be very far away of course this year…), we have been extremely busy preparing and starting to implement some significant changes at
Del Sole.
If you have visited us so far this month you will already have seen some of these, including more indoor seating and a brand new menu.
This is just the start so watch out for more surprises to come. Please do give us your feedback via our special September Customer Survey and you could win one of 3 special prizes in our free draw!
We also have dubbed this month our ‘Organic
September‘ as, in conjunction with the Soil Association’s
organic food festival, we have switched to exclusively using organic milk
and bread at no extra cost for our customers.
And finally, for all those of you who, either by necessity or choice, follow a wheat, gluten and/or dairy free diet, you will really appreciate the story and recipe for my new tasty as well as healthy ’superfood salad’!
Enjoy!
Regards,
Licia Accorsi - Del Sole

Will breakfast ever be the same again?
Perhaps not thanks to our brand new breakfast and all-day menu. My husband James is driving me crazy to make him my new parma ham, organic bread and parmesan-baked free range eggs in a fabulous terracotta dish. This is definitely one breakfast/brunch treat that won’t leave you hungry…
Also new to our breakfast range is a very Italian twist on a true
British classic. Rather than a mere bacon roll, how about combining crispy pancetta in an organic white bread bap, with ketchup and basil pesto? Like the parma ham dish above, this combination is once tried, never forgotten!
Its not all about breakfast, however, as due to popular demand (or at least a few people specifically requesting it in our survey), our own homemade pasta is back, in the form of the classic ricotta and spinach cannelloni. Other main course specials will be featuring soon as well so don’t
forget to check out the latest updates on our website menu page.
Is there anything you’d like to see on the menu in the future? Well why
not let us know in our September Customer Survey below.

Have your say and win a gift basket in our September customer survey ‘3 chances to win’ prize draw
Quite a few of you have already spotted our latest prize draw giveaway - our September customer survey!
Thanks to all of you who have already completed and handed in your form in-store. The three prizes are:
- 1st prize is an Italian Rice,
Truffle and Porcini Mushroom
Luxury Hamper Set (value £42).
- 2nd Prize - Italian Honey and Fruit
Preserve Gift Basket (value £27)
- 3rd Prize - Twin Bottle Gift Box
Set of Exta Virgin Olive Oil (value £24.50)
Its been extremely useful already to get your feedback about what you really like about Del Sole, as well as what other changes you would like to see. Sue Warren wrote “it
adds a touch of class to Moorland Road“, Jennifer Riley said [we like] “the food because its delicious. The atmosphere which is delightfully continental. And Licia is lovely. We love sitting and watching the world go by.” In fact, the words atmosphere, ambience, great food and coffee were mentioned by many of you. Thank you all!
It wasn’t a great surprise, however, that one of the most commonly
requested items was “more seating” (Dave Inman, Karen Draper, Will
Sandry and others). For this reason we’ve already added another table
with seating, and will be adding further ones, along with colourful new
‘funky’ seating, in about a fortnight’s time.
I’ll review more of your comments and try to answer as many questions
as I can in next month’s newsletter. For now, if you’ve not yet had
your say by completing a survey, please see our ‘3 chances to win in
September prize draw’ web page or go directly to our online survey and
fill in the brief questionnaire.
But hurry, the final deadline for all entries is Saturday September 20th!

Superfood salad with black rice, butternut squash, sweet potato, cranberries, goji berries, sunflower and pumpkin seeds
A few months ago there I was, running an Italian food business, when all of a sudden I found myself with a new personal dietary requirement to eat no wheat, no gluten, no dairy, no meat, no yeast and no sugar for three months!
I thought I was never going to be able to survive, but its amazing how unexpectedly challenging times can often
reveal a truly golden lining!
First of all I tried cooking my favourite recipes in the same way but with wheat and gluten free replacement ingredients.
What a disaster!
The results where so poor in terms of flavour and texture that instead of helping to maintain my focus on eating the proper food I needed to get better I felt that I was not going to have another decent meal for the next three months.
However, I refused to be beaten by these disappointing results. Armed solely with a deep conviction that there must be a better way I decided to change my approach and experiment instead with new flavours and intriguing, palatable combinations.
I was desperate to be able to eat a healthy, ‘earthy’ salad. A salad that
could be eaten either warm or cold, that was full of goodness and yes
why not, a salad with a hint of sweetness for those days when the evil
sugar craving can really get to you and outside it’s raining again…

Organic September - at no extra cost!
And finally, we also have dubbed this month our ‘Organic September’ as, in conjunction with the Soil Association’s organic food festival, we have switched to exclusively using organic milk at no extra cost for our customers.
So now there’s another reason to enjoy your favourite Del Sole latte or cappuccino!
We have also started to use local organic suppliers for the bread we use in our breakfast range and to accompany our range of soups.
The importance of eating organic food was also underlined by the
respondents in our September survey. What do you think?
