Welcome to this October makeover edition of the ‘From my kitchen to yours newsletter’.

As you will soon see, we’ve had a facelift! In response to the many requests from our September survey feedback, we’ve added significantly more seats and tables to fit everyone in more comfortably.

We’re also continuing to change and improve our breakfast and all-day menu, which you can check out anytime via our website.

We also have a special offer this month for you if you would like to try something from our new breakfast range and juices/smoothies!

First of all, however, for those of you who follow a wheat-free, gluten-free and or dairy-free diet, we have a treat for you - the recipe to our already instantly-popular Cinnamon and pear cake.

After a summertime that has come and gone without the delivery of its promised sunny days, autumn is here! I love this season because of the spectacular harvest bounty that it brings, as well as the wonderful colours that Mother Nature displays from her very own pret-a-porter wardrobe.

On trees she spreads an amazingly rich combination of reds, oranges and plums. On grass there are even richer and deeper green hues, all defined by a touch of brown. And she sets all these in the misty pale blues and grey tones of the first autumnal mists. Wonderful!

Much as I love Italy, I think that autumn in England is really quite a show. Pears are part of this Autumn bounty and their versatility is just incredible. You can use them in a variety of savoury tarts, or develop their sweet soul by poaching them in rich wine, or baking them in a cake.

My ‘cinnamon and pear cake’ - that is wheat-free, gluten-free and dairy-free - is my own personal interpretation of what to do with such a delicious fruit.

So what did you say in the survey?

If you look at the dozens of comments which are now listed on our testimonials page, the words ‘great food, coffee and atmosphere’ are mentioned consistently. This is very pleasing as we do put a lot of effort into
creating a clean and attractive environment, and the quality of food
and coffee is absolutely crucial for any self-respecting Italian!

In Caroline Ricketts’ words: “I love the atmosphere and the quality of the food and drinks!

Janet Bendall wrote “Quality of food. Friendly atmosphere. Location. Cleanliness. Love your web site, photos and recipes.” Thank you Janet!

You also listed many suggestions and requests that have been very
useful in helping us understand where to focus our energies. For
example, the most common request was for “more seating” and you can now see the pictures of how we’ve completely redesigned the shop floor area with new seating, tables and a colourful terracotta wall!
