Issue 4 - March 2nd 2008 - ‘From my kitchen to yours’ - Mother’s Day special - Mamma is the word

Happy festa della mamma!

In Italy we normally celebrate Mother’s day on May 8th, so its a little strange to be celebrating this special day without the warmth of early summer as an accompaniment. 

This year however Mother’s day has a special meaning for me as it is the first time I have had my mother here with me, both at home but also, as many of you know, helping and generally entertaining everyone in our deli!

So I thought how better to celebrate than to dedicate this newsletter to a lady called ‘Germana’, but who is better known to you all simply as ‘mamma’!

Mamma is the word!

This newsletter is dedicated to all Mums, but one in particular, my mamma Germana.

As you can see from the picture on the right - and the others on my blog - she is a 69 year old with a very much larger than life character.

She is utterly inspiring for her uncomplicated way, honest and sharp eye for the things of life!
